Next Meeting-- Tuesday, June 16th 6:00 pm
Embassy Suites, 2925 Emerywood Parkway (first intersection west of Broad and Glenside)

Topic: The Right Leader for the Wrong times
Speaker:
  • Dr. Nancy Bagranoff, Dean of the College of Business and Administration at the Old Dominion University

  • Dr. Jorge Haddock, Dean of Robins School of Business at University of Richmond

  • Dr. Michael Sesnowitz, Dean at VCU School of Business

Topic summary

These past few months have been a litmus test for every CEO. Large or small, organizations across the nation have been scarred by layoffs. Many a CEO has been tarnished by financial malfeasance, and stripped bare of all illusions of power and prescience. And then, there are true leaders, who may have been on the sidelines during the financial bubble, but who are a stark contrast to those who flogged commonsense and ethics and are now paying the price.

On June 16th, an AITP panel of Business Deans will discuss how to be the right leader for these wrong times, and help cut costs, realign organizational goals, without chopping off heads, and effectively reprioritize and retool their organization with the assistance of a focused and motivated team. And the panel will offer their opinions on what role Business school's should or would play in the future, in tempering the forgotten truth, that ethics, commonsense and respect for the law must hold sway over the interests of the few and greed.

And so AITP brings together a panel of 3 academics, who happen to be the Deans of surrounding schools of business, such as Dr. Michael Sesnowitz of VCU School of Business, Dr. Jorge Haddock, Dean of Robins School of Business at UR, and Dean Dr. Nancy Bagranoff, Dean of the College of Business and Administration at the Old Dominion University at Norfolk on June 16th at 6:00 PM.

Apart from the above, the panel shall discuss ideas that the rest of us can emulate in business, on how to distinguish between projects, divisions that are burning capital without any end in sight, and those that can help to hone its competitive edge, so as to re-brand itself as the recession thins.

Seats are limited. You can pre-register at the AITP website at http://www.aitprich.org/guestbook.asp
